I just bought a URB (my first) from Gruhn's in Nashville. All the ones they had had the finish stripped off the back of the necks. Would it be a good thing to use the EBMM method of sanding, oiling and waxing the neck?
That would probably work well, but I think I'd ask Gruhn's if they know what might already be on it to make sure that you don't have problems if you elect to use gunstock oil & wax.
Our luthier (Jeff at Lemur Music) recommends that we use Watco. It's a penetrating resin finish available in several colors. Just be sure to read and follow the directions, particularly as to rag disposal.
