So I got home today and went to play bass and although I hadn't changed a thing, there was fret buzz and so i did the fretting the first fret and 15th thing and there was absolutely NO clicking sound and the string was practically glued to that fret. So i set the saddles a little higher and that got rid of the fret buzzing problem (i'm guessing i should have done this after changing relief) and then adjusted the truss rod to the left (towards me when playing) and everyone online says this should work but still no difference! so although the fret buzz isnt a problem anymore im guessing it isnt right that theres no relief. I'm just feeling pretty down about it right now and dont get why my bass has suddenly changed and just want it to feel like it did yesterday especially as i have a gig tomorrow. So basically: WHAT DO I DO?

thanks.

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction............How far did you turn the truss rod adjuster? If you are looking down at the bass (while playing, right handed), you would pull the adjuster knob up towards you (counter clockwise). How many turns did you go, 1/4, 1/2, more than 1? Is there tension on the adjuster when you are backing it off, or does it feel like it is spinning freely?

When checking for relief, finger/press the first fret and the 22nd fret...............Then look around the 12th fret for relief/clearance.

I also wait a little while in between trussrod tweaks to let the neck/fretboard settle in and never turn it in more than 1/4 turn increments... I probably wouldn't have messed with the bridge saddles until I was sure that the trussrod wouldn't correct the issue though... have patience young jedi...

Don't forget to check your tuning. Sometimes it's the simple things. Also have you had any drastic weather changes?

I'm not sure it's a drastic change, plus it's not like i had a window open, but it was extremely sunny and fairly hot and then in the afternoon it started raining but i dont think that would change things inside my house. and thank you for the PM :)

I think i'll have another look tomorrow and things should be alright to get me through the gig then i'll take it to see someone professional sometime
