I have the opportunity to buy a brand new limited run JP7. I own both JP15's and Majesty's but never the original JP6 or JP7. The price point is predictably very high and it would require me to trade in one of my existing guitars (a non EBMM model) to help make the purchase feasible.

I'm not sure about what to do, to be honest. I don't "need" it as I have a 7 string Majesty, but I wonder if I'll ever have a chance to own the original John Petrucci EBMM guitar. I guess that I'm asking for advice on what you guys think I should do. What makes the JP7 special vs. the JP15 line or the Majesty line ? Tell me what I should do please...I have to decide within the next 2-3 days.

Depends on a lot of things. Colour, condition, if it has SS frets, etc.

I like the arm scoop a lot. But I don’t think you’ll get anything really different enough from the JP15 which is basically the OG on steroids.

My draw to the originals (and the 16), are the arm scoop. I love how it looks and how it feels. The body is also slightly smaller than the anniversaries, if I remember correctly. My favorites are the originals with the stainless frets, but really enjoy every JP model I’ve played (original, BFR/maple top, JPX, JPXII, Majesty, JP15, and JP16).

If you like the limited run finish, I’d probably go for it, as those tend to sell more rarely, but if it’s just to try a JP7, I’d resist the urge unless you just really don’t want whatever the other guitar is.
