OG LIII!!!

Though the SBMM line is terrific; why buy something that's trying to be the something that you can actually get?

This is about where I am at right now.

I have Sterling JP and think it is a fantastic guitar. It was a little easier to go with the Sterling on the JP as the finishes (burst/quilt) offered in this price range had me comparing to a BFR Petrucci, which even used were a $1000-$1500 higher. The finishes on the Sterling Luke are comparable to the standard EB Lukes and used can be had for $300-$400 more. Certainly closes the gap big time.

Going to throw my 2 cents in, if you buy from Guitar Center Used you better call them and ask for as much information as possible.

I've had various incidents where products were crudely described before, said to be *mint* but came with neck cracks and even worse things that I won't go too far into detail about. Just call them, speak to a manager and ask for pictures of EVERYTHING and ask about any and all damage. "It's pretty much perfect man, this thing's hardly been played", isn't acceptable because that's what I've been told in my personal experiences with them and gotten something that was either unplayable or just a direct lie. There's even a case of a JP12-7 that was bought here by a user, he paid for the up charge of having a quilt top on his BFR but received the flame top instead. Absolutely ridiculous.

You could of course avoid all this and just order a new one with Pete nothing but good vibes from him and ordering through him.

While the possibility exists of a guitar getting shipped that was "not as described" through GC used, the generous return policy negates that risk. If it doesn't meet expectations than return it.

If the used GC guitar is shipped you need to pay for the shipping costs when you return it, but not the return shipping costs. Otherwise the 30 day used guarantee and return policy at GC makes used gear purchases a no-brainer.

I have bought at least 30 used guitars from different GC's around thre country over the past few years. I've returned probably 4 of them because they weren't in the condition as described. I would highly suggest this route. They can take pics of the guitar for you from all different angles. Just ask them what you want to see.

I almost bought a jp6 yesterday but when I saw the detailed pics they sent me, it had a giant gash on it that didn't show up on the listed display pic. No harm no foul... Except for a beautiful mystic dream finish being ruined

And in the cases the guitars showed up not the way they were described, I was refunded everything... Even the shipping

If it's not as described they will refund the shipping as well. I have had them refund shipping even on orders where it was fine but didn't work for me. If you ask they usually will just refund everything.

Edgar, I just checked our email server and didn't see anything from you. The LUKE sold yesterday right around the time you started the thread. When I saw your topic this morning I thought you and I had been trading emails over the past 4 days and that you were the one who bought the guitar. Oops! I'll be happy to help you out on a Luke 100D.

You can email me directly, link in my signature below.

Thanks Pete, I would've felt better buying it from you than from GC. I'll check to see if they have any. Send me an email if you can offer me a good deal. I've been longing for the real thing for a while, just turned 44 so, I should do it.

Never had problems buying used from GC.

Just ask for lots of pics...if I can do it being far far away, then you can do it also :)
