Here's the resource where you may find useful record samples of many different basses. The owner of the site is Nitkin - professional bass player from Russia who is currently living in Spain and playing bass in many interesting projects there:

As far as I know, he's also working in a music equipment store in Barcelona, where he got access to tons of different basses.
All the samples from the library are recorded with the same tune and background beat, which is very useful for comparison.
And of course, not to be offtopic, what do we see at the top of that great sample library?
Yeah! you know....it will be nice to add a couple more recordings of SR's, Sterlings and Bongos with different pick-up configurations.
These samples will be a good use to people who are not sure what sound are they looking for, and they provide a great example of Stingray sound in comparison to all other popular basses.
