Hi all

New to the forum but glad to be here

I recently bought a MM Valentine and am in love with the guitar

I started to make some tweaks to the pickup height and noticed a difference between the neck and the bridge pup

When I adjust the neck pickup, the pickup rings also move. When I adjust the bridge pickup, the ring stays flush to the body and only pickup moves. I’m not doing anything different

Is this normal? Is this anything to worry about? Is there a reason for this?

Thanks in advance

Maybe take the rings off and see if there's a spring underneath that's catching?

Neither of my EBMMs have pup rings, but I have a Gretsch that does. The pup adjustment screws are separate from the height screws but pass through the rings, so the rings don't move; they're attached to the body. Looks like that's different here.

Thanks so much @jayjayjay

I definitely think that the ‘problem’ is the neck pickup

Hopefully it’s just a spring or spacer

I’ll get it off and take a look next string change

Thanks again
