I've put a few different tunes on my soundclick page and so far they've just been me playing over a backing track, in roughly the right key most of the time. However this time I've done my first "conceptual" number, using my tobacco Axis.
I took the Van Helsing/vampire stories as my start point. I grabbed a couple of piano/bass/drum sections out of Blue Oyster Cult's song "Nosferatu" (see how it's all coming together?) and played over that. There are two distinct guitar parts - one for Van Helsing and one for the vampires. Hopefully you should get a sense of them battling throughout. Occasionally the dark side of Van Helsing is hinted at when the two guitars briefly drop into harmony and then split off again. Towards the end a heavy four note guitar riff signifies the stakes being hammered into the vampires and this is interspersed with their responding cries of despair. Then, right at the end, the mournful tapping licks represent the vampires crumbling away to dust. Awesome, eh? And I bet you though I'd be doing a RATT cover!
So, with all the pretentious stuff out the way, have a listen. The levels were a bit all over the place originally so I've remixed it and posted the new version which sounds much better. Hope you like it. It's my mini masterpiece!
