I had some trouble with my picking hand, as I mentioned above. A couple of things helped. Mainly I tend to hold the pick at a rather extreme angle as opposed to parallel with the string. I'm working on changing it, but it's hard to change nearly twenty years of habit. I also tended to really "choke up" on the pick and hold it quite tightly. Holding it as tight as I did was causing me to tense up my forearm too, essentially translated into my whole arm was too tense. I've since really learned to relax my grip, I'm holding the pick, but I'm only using as much effort to hold it as it takes to keep it there. I have to concentrate on that quite a bit, since I do tend to lose myself in what I'm playing and before I realize it, I'm choked up on it, and I have the pick in a death grip again ;)
