this is the only stingray i have this problem, very light, great growl, great neck, so i really like playing it at gigs but the pickup , which is right where i play has very very sharp edges, i have lowered it as much as possible, but didnt help, is there a way to file the edges down, make them smoother ?? any one else had this problem?? none o my other ones have these sharp edges like when you open a can of tuna or something

i have the same thing on my pre 2003 sr4. on the later models they rounded the edges and i believe they changed the cover in 2005 so the pole pieces are flush with the cover.
(someone correct me if i got it wrong ;))
you probably could hack away with a file, but i guess the magnetic debris wouldnt be easy to get rid of...

I don't think a diy fix can be recommended, as MrM said the magetic debris would likely make a mess of everything.
But why not buy a new pup for the bass? I think that if you give ebmm your pick up they'll sell you a new one.
