It's a very interesting guitar, but it is something that was not done by EB/MM so as they say, let the buyer beware!

Looks pretty sweet to me! And I think the price is pretty fair, too.
BUT the fact that the seller purchased it on Ebay himself only two months ago should set off a few warning bells... He just bought it, and he's dumping it already? Why?

Who knows? Maybe for the same reason some people are day traders, they like to gamble to make money but do it by buying and selling things for a profit. Or, maybe there is something seriously wrong with it. Or maybe he just doesn't like the vibe. Or maybe the water pump in his car just blew and he needs some dough fast. Perhaps an email to the seller might answer these questions. It is the 'bay - so buyer beware!

Do you really think that if he's dumping it because the mods are f'd up, he's going to tell you? More likely he'll tell you about his blown water pump... Buyer beware indeed: I wouldn't consider anything flipped this fast unless I could see it in person first...

I don't know. He's been an ebay member for over 4 years with over 100 feedbacks and a 100% positive rating. I bet he's probably a pretty honest individual. So, you'd feel better if he had owned for longer?

Ok I emailed the guy and here is his answer, take it as you will:

Hi...my reason for selling this guitar is...frankly, I need the money at this time. I am selling this and a Fernandes Thinline Tele to pull together some money to pay some taxes that will be due soon. This Axis I did purchase recently on Ebay. I had to do some re-wiring to get the Silent Circuit functioning properly (figuring it all out was a bit of a nightmare, to be honest...but I did get it working right!) The problem was whoever did the addition of the third pickup, added another MM90 neck position and moved the original MM90 neck to the middle, leaving both the neck and middle pickups reverse wound/reverse polarity from the hotter bridge pickup. So, armed with a schematic from a Albert Lee MM90, I finally figured out a way to get it working...and that was to wire the bridge pickup to the Silent Circuit alone as if it were the middle...and let the neck and middle (which have the same polarity and winding direction) share the other wire on the Silent Circuit. Normally, as in the schematic, the bridge and neck would share one Silent Circuit wire and the middle (which would normally be the RW/RP) would be going alone to the other wire of the Silent Circuit. Now, I'm referring only to the wiring of the Silent Circuit and NOT the switch, the 5-way switch fuctions exacly as it normally would. Confused yet?!!! Anyway, it works great now and as I'm sure anyone familiar with EB guitars knows, it plays wonderfully. In fact, that is another reason I'm selling this guitar, its playability puts all my other guitars to shame. So, I'm faced with getting rid of my others and getting a couple of EBs (which I obviously can't afford to do right now) or get rid of this one before I totally fall in love with it and it renders my others unplayable. So, I hope this information is helpful and you can understand why I chose to not try and explain all the technical details in the auction description. If you would like, you can pass this along on the forum. My intention was not to mis-lead or hide any background on this guitar, but I felt getting too technical in the description would confuse the average possible bidder. Thanks for asking.

Sounds reasonable to me. If you are seriously interested, tell him and share your concerns and see if he would be willing to let you check it out for a week to make sure it's up to snuff (in a lot of states you have 72 hours at least to void any contract, sales included), and if you don't like it, YOU pay to ship it back. He'll probably go for that.

Otherwise, he seems like an honest responsive ebay seller. I wouldn't hesitate if I were interested.
