***UPDATED***video demo "Keep the camera or take it back"

Hello fellow Ballers! I just picked up a mini HD camera but I'm not sure if the built in mic is any good. Here is a quick demo just to hear what it records like. The lighting is terrible but was more concerned with the audio. Not sure if I should just get one of them portable recorders like Tascam and do audio clips not videos?

***UPDATE***

Just added this video using a different camera. I think this one has better audio.....cheaper too. Sorry to keep posting the vids guys.....just needing opinions/suggestions.....thanks!

Sound is obviously distorted in the first one... you can probably prevent this by just lowering your playing volume or maybe there is a gain adjustment for the built in mic somewhere. Other than that, you could plug in your own mic if there is a jack for that... Nice playing!

I don't think it has a mic gain adjustment or an external mic input. Will probably end up taking it back but will experiment a little more first. Thanks for the advice.

most of the built in mics aren't intended to pick up this type of videos... i would suggest picking up an external mic and you'll need to adjust the volume on the camera and you should be in business

the sound is very acceptable in my opinion, but if you want best of both worlds you need to put a mic in from of your amp and record it at the same time then synchronize the audio with the video

Sounds like a normal vid camera condenser mic,and the vid quality's decent.IMHO it seems like you've already halfway convinced yourself to take it back.If it were me I'd exchange it for one that had more inputs and adjustability...even if it cost a bit more.

Sound quality is adequate for a demo- I guess it depends what quality you are ultimately looking for.

Anyway sod the camera!!;) Show me how ya do some of those blistering runs -awesome playing and I just love your feel.

I will be of no help whatsoever. I don’t own a video camera nor do I know how to operate one.

Your playing on that AL is fantastic though. :)

I'v been looking at the Canon HD camcorders:
i like this one as it has high still picture mp and line in for a mic:

i've been using a JVC 60GB HDD (hard drive recording, not Hi Def) and am generally unhappy with the results. Looking at upgrading soon and want to get the best bang for the buck.

First vid was a JVC Picsio and the second is a Sony Webbie HD. I already returned the JVC which was $149 and just picked up the Sony last night for under $90.

Actually that was because the track is in B and I pretty much got lost for a moment...LOL! When I listened to it afterwards I thought hey that wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to sound.
