I saw an axis ss on the bay yesterday, and the seller had modified the volume and tone pots, claiming a vast improvement in those controls. The tone pot was a Fender TBX...Has anybody ventured to mess with the stock EB volume and tone controls.I do find rolling off the volume on my HBHB axis sport muddies the sound a fair bit.

I haven't used one, but the TBXs allow you to cut the treble or bass, vs the normal treble cut you get with a standard tone circuit.

Re the treble drop- this is normal on most guitars when you roll off the volume. Depends on your guitar and rig, but it's normal to get a bit of treble loss. The fix is soldering in a resistor & capacitor across two lugs of your volume pot. It's called a "treble bleed" and there are various values you can use (do a Google search).

In any case ... swapping in the original pots and/or the treble bleed mod are both pretty straight-forward.
