With my Axis SuperSport, I tend just to keep the volume on 10 and when I stop playing, I just roll the pot right down to prevent background noise and unwanted sounds when not playing, in other words, as a mute.

More and more though these days I find myself turning the volume pot down a couple of notches to clean it up a bit, depending on the tone I'm after. The only thing that puts me off doing this more often and certainly relying on it for a constant tone when playing live, is that I can never get the number exact the same, as once I've rolled the pot down to mute, it never ends up the same again. The obvious solution I guess is the little silver indicators like used on a Gibson Les Paul (well I've seen some, not all).

Has anyone used these with Axis guitars before? Do the ones that fit LP's work for the Axis, or anyone know of a particular brand that would be suited.

Thanks for any advice or words that could be helpful here!

I never liked the Gibson style indicators, I prefer a small dot of permanent marker (black, silver or gold, depending on the colour of the pickguard). But even then, I can't look down and dial in the number I want quickly mid-song so I've actually spent time practising rolling the volume down to the amount I want, doing it by feel and by ear. It helps.
