So ive been doing some volume swells with my JP12 and it has a bit of a "crackling" sound when I get to a certain position. Is it just dust or something in the pot?
Over time, pots and switches can build up debris and get 'crackly'. Easy fix is to get a can of contact cleaner (DeOxit), and spray a wee bit into the pot housing, while rapidly turning the pot back and forth.
Let me tell you about a little secret I've learned from an electronics repair engineer. A small drop of mineral oil used for small mechanism movements and which is electrically conductive will get rid of any dust particles that cause cracks and pop noises. I did it myself and it works.
I haven't had time to go to the store and probably won't until the weekend, but I do have some of Dr. Ducks Axe Wax that i clean the guitar with and lube the tuning machines, trem posts, etc. Would that be ok to try? Not so sure if its conductive though
I tried the Axe Wax and it fixed my biggest issue but there is a still a small problem. Right before max volume it tends to cut out. Its easy enough to stop just before it since it doesn't effect the volume noticeably but I would like to fix it anyway. Is it time to try Deoxit or this there another issue besides dust/oxidation?
