Does anyone have any info on what to do to make the swell more gradual on a VP-JR?

I know there is a switch, but both settings seem to go from "off to on" a little too abruptly... I guess I'm looking for more range in the "none-to-little" range for some ambient style music I'm doing.

Do you run the VP in front of your amp or in the loop? I've noticed the swell is very smooth if you use it in the loop. It keeps your gain intact and just swells the volume like it should. I like to put delay after the volume pedal and do swells that way. If used in front of the amp it just decreases/increases your input signal (like your volume knob on your guitar) which varies your gain. Anyway, you might have tried this already, but if not, then give it a shot! I leave my volume pedal in the loop with my delay...

Oh, and welcome to the forums!!

My Volume pedal sounds crapy in my loop(im using Mark IV).

2nd thing is that I can hear the pedal although its pressed down to silent and there is no volume if the pedal is forced and pushed right down do I need to reset it?

akg, as mmjp6 suggested, try running the pedal in your FX loop.

sickindian, when you rock the pedal to "off" you should be able to see a hex screw holding a pulley onto the shaft of the pot. If you ever so slightly loosen this screw so the pulley can slip on the shaft, rock the pedal a tiny bit towards "on" and then tighten the hex screw a decent amount, you should be all set!

(The pulley may have slipped over time, causing the zero position to shift)

I did not know this. My VP sounds fine in the loop of my Mark V IMO though and it is a 250k...

Pete, thanks for the zero position adjustment instructions! I noticed this with my VP as well, but it never really concerned me that much. I may give this a shot.

Funny, I just bought another 25k VP Jr last night and was thinking how well it worked. Dead silent in the loop when I back it right off.

I took it apart and changed the mono Tuner jack to a TRS jack and wired the In & Out connections to it. So I can run a single stereo cable from the VP back to my amp now. (For my small Badger rig.)

If I didn't run my delay right after the VP the TRS jack for JP type swells that would be a great idea.
