Volume pedal strange trouble

My volume pedal don't work; If I unscrew and remove the two screws that from below fix the block where the sockets are housed in and out jack, it works perfectly. If I put them back, it doesn't work again, mute. Has this happened to anyone?
Sorry for my english, I'm italian.
