I know this topic is covered in one of the sticky thread but I am a bit lost

I'm using both active (EMG pickup) and passive guitars. For the moment I'm using GT3 and V-Twin for recording.

If I want to had a volume pedal what should I take 25k or 250k ?

Where to connect it ? just before the amp or the mixer ?

Thnaks for your help

After active signals (EMGs, buffered pedals e.g. Boss, Pods, FX loops, etc.) = 25k.

After passive signals (regular pickups) = 250k.

My pleasure :)

My preference has always been to use the 25k pedal - you can use it after a buffered pedal, and it's always totally useful for other things like putting in an FX loop.

25k VP Jr. I use it in a parallel FX loop, so I can blend in reverb/delay/chorus. Or dial it back for a dry sound.

I'm gonna jump in with a VP question of my own :D

Would a single Boss type pedal be a sufficient buffer before a 25k VP? Even though I plan on using a volume pedal relatively early in my passive signal path, the versatility of the 25k is quite a draw.

Yes, the buffers on the Boss are decent and that should be fine.

Lenny- can't take credit for that idea. I watched Tommy do it though his rig and I was sold on it! Play dry ... swell in some delay for a solo ... dial it back ... Steve Morse is a master at this- he's got his various delays set up through vol pedals and blends them in a zillion times per song! It's something to watch.
