Hey all, I'very decided my two main gigging basses will be my Classic Ray 5h and my Big Al 4sss. These two have different preamps and the volume level when switching is noticeable. Anyone know of a volume pedal that can switch smartly (programmable perhaps)?

My first thought was an A/B box with each side driving a potentiometer so you can set its level. You could get by with one pot; use it on the bass with the higher output. Pot value is non-critical since we're talking active basses with low output impedances. I'd think anything between 25K and 100K would work fine. You could build everything into a metal project box.

Actually there's a simpler solution without any additional hardware. Adjust the instruments' volumes to be identical during sound check, and then don't touch them. To duplicate the settings from show to show, remove the instruments' volume knobs, get your volume settings just right, then reinstall the knobs so the setscrews are directly facing your eyes while you're playing it. This works even on a dark stage pre-show because your thumb can detect the setscrew hole and do a final sanity check just before stick count.

I like this idea! Thanks!
