Greetings All
I have been using the EB W-Wipes (fretboard conditioner) on my Maple Sterling since I bought it. Can I continue just to use the W wipes or should I give it a coat of the gunstock oil every so often? This bass is pretty much in the HS case when not in use. I am a stickler for clean hands and wipe the neck/fretboard down after each use.
Tks

I just use the fretboard conditioner personally. I figure since it's what's put out by the same company, they know what it needs best!:)

A lot on this topic in various threads on the forum. General consensus by those of us with maple necks (I have a maple Sterling HS as well) was "good quality lemon oil" on occasion to clean it. I've done the gunstock - followed by carnuba wax on the fretboard with "limited effect," unlike the back of the neck which will drink the stuff up (being raw wood). BLUF: Concur with fretboard conditioner, even though it's targeted at rosewood boards, which actually absorb the stuff a lot more.

I spoke to a few folks at the local shop and they too told me to use it only on a rosewood board. I have since been informed that it can be used on maple as well.
I use it on both the board as well as the back of the neck, let it sit for a few minutes then wipe both surfaces down with a dry cloth. I just was wondering if I should do the gunstock thing every once in awhile but would prefer to just use the conditioner if that would maintain the overall finish and texture of this flawless instrument. Now all I need is some kind of wonder-something to fix my own flaws!!!
Thanks
