I just couldn't help it. More $$$ than I wanted to spend but what the heck, it's been 6 months since I bought a new bass. 6 months is a long time for G.A.S. to build up. Was concerned about 0 feedback but I took Bov's advice and called the guy. He has given me all info about him including cell phone and his band website - talked for a long time and I'm real comfortable with the deal. He even offered to split shipping on 2nd day air.

Now I gotta sell "Smoove" (my Ken Smith BT5G). The case hasn't been opened since Bongo 5 moved into the ranch. I know that the GrapeRay will get played a lot. Plus I'll have a little cash left over from selling the Smith.

Oh yeah and it will look great on the wall too.

Errrrr....no Stingrays left at Camp Bovine.

Do Bongos count?

Wait, I forgot - a Stingray 5 is on its way to me as we speak.

Congrats!!

I was thinking that I knew who toddmason was, but I didn't put it together until I saw this. I did a little bidding early trying to smoke out the reserve but I wouldn't have gone that high since it had a maple fret board. Nothing wrong with it, I just prefer rosewood. I know you'll enjoy the bass. Post pics when you get it.

Enjoy your new toy!

I can't quite wrap my head around the matching headstock with the maple 'board, but I didn't like the Envy Green with the black headstock until I saw it in person, either, so what the hell do I know? I've come to the conclusion that most basses look better when worn by a person. In the best case scenario, that person would look like Miss Florida in a Speedo, but outside of a Robert Palmer (RIP) video, that doesn't happen often.

I'd sell Smoove for what I paid for it two years ago - $1750.00. A new one goes for about $3600.00 with the series/parallel selector upgrade and it's in excellent shape. I had Ken Smith himself set it up after I bought it and he told me the used market value on that was about $2200.00. Not cheap but a really great bass that's EASY to play - you guys just got me thinking Music Man all the time now!!! :D :D :D

I'm looking forward to seeing some nice big clear pics of it. I want to see some better pics than the ones on ebay. It is a beautiful bass, you must be very excited! :D

850 is a decent price if the bass is in excellent shape.

yeah, especially when you know that 2nd hand Stingrays are about 1100 euro's around here (if you get lucky, in a 2nd hand shop, it will be much more expensive)

anyway, congrats on your new bass
