When flying I always bring the bass with me in the Cabin using a custom made leather gig bag and if it won't fit overhead in all other cases they allowed the bass to go into the Captins coat rack and when shipping l'll loosen the strings a tad and they are ready to ship.

I have always loosened strings and was curious if that was the correct method. Thanks for the info.

Well lordy me, Dave, you're one of the 1% of people who get to do that every time. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way for the rest of us, even when we don't use four letter words to the staff.

Musicman Nut, thanx for posting this, I read it and last week I went thru and checked and removed all of the batteries from my guitars and sure enough 1 of them had started to corrode!! Luckly for me it was bad enough to have ruined the contacts.

Hey Glenn, yeah it's something sometimes we forget about, I'm glad you caught it soon, I had a few that leaked and it was not good.
