I recently bought a SR4 and I must say it's the best bass I've ever picked up, but when I hooked it up to my amp and played a song I noticed the G string was really weak compared to the other strings. The string sounds just as loud as the others when not amplified, so my guess was it's the pickups. Is this normal for Stingrays? Should I raise the pickup where the string is? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, that's normal for StingRays. The high end isn't as punchy and powerful as the low end. Your guess was right, though. Raising the pickups on the side of the G and D strings would get more volume from them.

I dropped the bass side slightly.

Playing about with the eq can help too. The temptation is to boost the bass and keep the mid and treble at the mid point... that gives a great tone on the E string, but the G suffers.
