I recently acquired a Stingray 4 and I noticed that the output isnt nearly as hot as my mexi p-bass, so naturally I think its weak. Also, the preamp controls seem to not really do much compared to my Schecter Stiletto. Is this just how 'Rays are or do I have a problem? Is the eq just really subtle? I have played a few before, but that was quite a while ago, so if this is the case I wouldnt remember.

The EQ is not subtle. And the StingRay, though not exactly having a "hot" output, isn't weak either. Maybe the preamp isn't powered by the battery. It could be that the soldering to the battery box is broken. Had that on one of mine.
