I was away for a week at a wedding back home(Indiana) and just got back today. Welll...

The Fretless Buttercream Bongo 5 has landed and I doubt if I could be any happier right now. I should be playing it right now instead of posting but I just had to let you all know. Here's a few pics...hope you enjoy 'em.

Andrew
p.s. It's good to be back and it looks like I have a lot to catch up on.

Ah, the wait is over - Congrats!

But alas, my wait has just recently begun! I've ordered mine with the same electronics and would love to hear your thoughts on the tone.

Anything to help pass the time! ;)

Andrew, man, that is beautiful! I think it's the first HS buttercream Bongo I've seen.

So now, tell me, is Buttercream a LTD. edition only color? Is color and a special case the only difference between a ltd. ed. and all the others?

Inquiring minds want to know...

The tone is in a word-exquisite. It's growly and powerful, yet smooth and pure. It's hard to put into words how it sounds...but it's an unbelievable bass and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. The Bongo 4 band eq/preamp works just as well(if not better) with the fretless as it does the fretted.

A big THANK YOU to the folks at EBMM that work magic into every instrument. It's funny 'cause, my Bongo seems a little more buttery then the Sting Ray Willies got in BC. The finish is stunning and looks great with the Pao Ferro fingerboard.

I can't wait to use it this weekend on some gigs.

Andrew :D :D :D

The Buttercream finish is only for this year and is Limited Edition.

It has burgundy lettering on the headstock and on the back it has "Limited Edition 2005" in burgundy right below the neckplate. It has cream side dots and markers and comes with the "vintage" style case. Peter(PsychicPet) has the exact same bass w/o lines so there's another Single Coil/Humbucker BC Bongo on this board even.

Gorgeous basses...

Thanks for the info Andrew. I agree with you, EB MM have really outdone themselves with the Bongo, in every area – design and electronics, funtionality and esthetics.

Andrew,

We will miss your posts, as you will most likely be unable to put down your Bongo long enough to participate here... ;)

Sounds like another fine piece of craftsmanship has been delivered.
