The Peavey Wolfgang Standard is no more...

Still no word from Peavey, of course ("Problem? What do you mean problem? It's all news to us...") but if Musicians' Friend has them up as discontinued, it's a safe bet that they are....

I wonder if Fender (aka Charvel) will start churning out the Wolfgang or if Eddie will have the guitar redesigned yet again... I had heard over on the JCF that a friend of one of the mods taht works at Fender was responsible for turning in 10 new designs for Eddie's consideration, but who knows...

Having never really played a Wolfie....I think Eddie is just doing what he thinks is in his best interest. If he feels ($$$ rubbing on him) that parting ways with Peavey is the best thing for him....so be it. I, for one, will not be interested in where he goes. He will continue this trend I feel until he has burned all his bridges (with guitar manufacturer's) and then he will have to start over....building guitars himself from parts and take a step back to his years of being innovative. I would like for him to be innovative and not re-hash striped guitars at an astronomical amount of money with a different guitar maker. Sad really....just play guitar like you used to.......and don't worry about how many sells and what not. :(

What he said.

The Wolfie was decent. Shame, really.

I'm glad I got my Wolfie coming...but will Peavey continue with a similar design like EBMM has?

Eddie's a whore...well as far as guitar manufacturers go, and an expensive one at that!

What I heard from my guy at the local store:

Basically, they have no more trems for the wolfgangs (no Floyds?), and only darker maple tops, so they are going to make about 1,000 stoptail wolfgangs in dark cherry, and that's it. No more.

Funny, I guy I know recently aquired a PRS Singlecut new for about $1400 before the lawsuit, then aquired a Wolfgang Special for about $400. He's gonna have a good return on both investments.

Well, here is what I have heard. Supposedly Eddie is having a Crate signature amp come out, which leaving Peavey as an amp maker probably translates into leaving them as your guitar maker too. I wonder if Sammy Hagar had anything to do with him going with crate.

Anyway, jsut a rumor....not sure of the accuracy.
