That's great you have musical friends near you. All mine from my early days have moved to different parts of the world. So it makes it tough for us to get togeather..

We had our meeting last night and the core 4 + one of the band have decided that the peoblemo is with the lead singer. He was actually pulling the band apart in his own way, and causing a lot of grief while he was at it.. So he is gone..

So We as a 5 piece again for the moment until we find some kind of replacement..
We have some bookings coming but I think we have time to find and work someone in..

SO things worked out better than I had thought and it also showed I have made some good solid friends in this band I really didn't know I had ..Cool a...

adelucia .. I know what you mean.. Competing for gigs in my opinion is uncool..
It just bugs my butt to hear that some other lesser band got the gig cause they were $5.00 buck cheaper that us..

My current Band is a foursome - three guitars and me. One guy is my first cousin who I've been making music with all my life, the other is a very best friend for 10 years. Two out of three of these guys I expect to know forever, so we'll likely play together fo just as long.

I recall creative differences and personal preferences beginning to pull us apart a while back and I suggested splitting-up to each do our own thing. That's when we realized we'd be competing for gigs!

Decided to work things out after all!

My cousin & I still talk about a side band to play a bit more often (current band only plays 4-6 gigs a year) and to play a wider variety of music. Problem is finding the right folks to play with.

I too have lifelong friends who have moved to different parts of the country. WE still try and meet up about 3 or 4 times a year and jam. It's interesting what each of us bring to the table each time.

That's pretty neat you know.. having friends that still play from our early days.
Mine are from the first highschool band I was ever in.. 5 piece.. Only one is still playing besides me..BUt he is way out west.
We are all still alive though ( which I say due the way we traeted our selves back in the late 60's early 70's ) and have met a couple of times when it has worked for us all.. which has been good.. A group of guys I'd do anything for if asked..


On the originail topic of this thread Adouglas --
I had a call from the drummer Saturday morning asking me to meet him for breakfast..
We had a great talk.. about what had happened and how we were both glad that the whole musical core of the band 5 of us had opted to stay the course and keep together and replace the trouble maker.. What an awsome talk.
We have agreed as our schedules Saturday mornings are similar to start to meet for Coffee or bearkfast every Saturday morning..
So this whole think has turned out pretty darn good so far..
Maybe if you know any of the guys you hooked up with a call would be in order..
You never know maybe the rest of that band wants to keep it going too..
