I've had my 2-band Stingray for a little over a year. I've enjoyed the heck out of it during that time, but decided recently to put it up on the block to see what came my way. I had lots of nibbles, and came very close to a deal a couple times, but for some reason just couldn't pull the trigger. I always got the same gut feeling saying "you'll regret it!"

Separately, I picked up a set of Group II flats on clearance at Guitar Center a few months back. Put them on a non-MM bass for a week or two, but since then they have just sat, waiting, in my back room.

Fast forward to tonight, when I decided to put the flats on the Stingray (duh!). Sounds fantastic - the perfect combination of punchy and full, at least to my ears. I'll need to tweak the neck at some point to compensate for the flats, but everything about the tone is just where I'm at right now. Feels like it brings out a totally different voice to the EQ, too.

I guess there are two lessons here:
1) Always listen to your gut
2) Get a Stingray. Keep it.

I do the same only I have a bongo 5H I keep along with an amp and cabs I keep because I listen to my gut. LOL.
All my basses have flats on them including the Bongo 6H.

When you find your sound that is what you can sell.

I've recently discovered the 2EQ with Group11 flats combo also. They look, feel and sound fantastic
