I have an alder bodied Kramer that the JB came out of. I just swapped out the pickups between the two...it sounds really good in the Kramer, but the Axis is my 'go to' guitarIf you don't want the pup anymore, give me a PM, I may be interested. Is it trembucker spacing?
That's weird - I always thought the JB was really strong in the mids. I've got a couple in some alder-bodied guitars with 250K pots and they cut through really well, not shrill at all...more like a good "honk"-y kind of tone.
But going back to the Axis stock bridge pickup - I'm with you: it's a great sounding pickup and there's no reason for me to want to swap it out.
Yeah.."Honk-y" sounding, that's what it sounded like in my Axis. Kinda like a cocked wah soundThat's weird - I always thought the JB was really strong in the mids. I love the SSS and MM90's on my AL - don't ever want to switch them.
Still it's good to experiment!
The singles in the AL are Duncans, aren't they?
