blackspy: I direly need to get some mp3's recorded. If I manage to accomplish this before this thread goes the way of the dodo, I'll put links to them on here.
I have two rigs, which sound simply irresistable with my EBMM Axis guitars. My first Axis is stock, while the other has a DiMarzio Humbucker From Hell in the neck and a DiMarzio Air Zone in the Bridge for tonal diversity.
1) Bogner Ecstasy 101B Stack, running a TC Electronics G Major FX Unit in Parallel. Both MusicMan guitars sound superb through this, although the modded Axis has a bit more 'bite' through this rig.
2) Top Hat Ambassador Combo, running a Barber Burn Unit and a Keeley-modded Blues Driver pedal. There's also a Line6 Echo Park, Fulltone Supa-Trem and a Carl Martin noise terminator pedal in the mix. It's hard to beat this amp for a clean sound, and the Burn Unit provides some really nice Marshall-esque distortion - however, topping the Bogner's hi-gain channels is bordering on inconcievable.
I ordered by LSS 410 cab back in early March. Arrival date is 5/23 Head should arrive about the same time. Might be June before I get clips of the LSS as I've got back to back race weekends the last 2 weeks of May.
I don't have my axis yet but when it gets here it'll be plugged into my dsl 50 halfstack with an overdrive pedal. Not sure which pedal yet ,still doing some research. Probably a tubescreamer or boss sd-1.
I used to use a 5150, but thats being retired for an Engl Powerball. I tried some of the other Engls in the range but this one does what I'm after. 4 channels, tubes backlit with red LEDs, switches and dials, jack sockets on the back, a handle. Man, this thing has got it all. It even has a power cable!
Running 2 rigs...( live & studio)
1) peavey 5150..straight in, no fx
2) mesa boogie rectoverb with assorted stomps in series and through the parallel fx
loop.
Sound kickass in both rigs although the 5150's got a real nice bite.
Soldano Hot Rod 50 (with variable depth mod) on top of a Bogner 2x12 closed back cab. Sounds very nice.
Have used it with a 5150, also very nice, a Koch Multitone, a Marshall DSL 50 (which I actually think sounded better with an Axis than either the Koch or the 5150) and through an Orange Rockerverb 50, which makes everything sound great!
