This is from a current eBay auction that I came across.
The colour looks too dark to be Blue Pearl but too light to be Carbon Blue Pearl!?!?
Is this a different blue that was offered before I was hanging around this forum?
The Seller doesn't seem to know what it is. They simply call it blue, and there's no listed date or age of the guitar.

If that's the case, then why was it changed?
I like the darker better than the lighter.

I would have to say that that color is Blue Pearl (or Pearl Blue as it used to be called). Carbon Blue Pearl has got more of a smokey gray look to it. We are still offering both colors.

Any color with pearl or metal flake in it can be tricky to photograph because depending on how they are lit, the color can look very different. Also, the flakes make the color change when viewed at different angles, which is something referred to as "flop". Pearls and metallics tend to flop on contours and radii, which is one of the reasons why they look so cool on our guitars!

Hope that clears things up a bit.

Great Info Jon

In reference to Blue pearl I noticed a change in the color around 1998. We may of switched vendors but there is a difference between the Pearl Blue circa 93-97 and the current Blue Pearl. The Pearl Blue and Pearl Red(discontinued) were a very deep dark hue. The current Blue Pearl is lighter. We may of switched vendors when we added Pearl Platinum,Pearl Lavender, Metalflake Brown and Green.

It's good to know that I'm not going crazy!!
I do realize that the light (especially camera flash) will not give you the real image.
This is fine since I know the colours in real life are very deep and have a lot to them. It is a problem however when trying to pick a colour that you've never seen before in person. I have collected hundreds of EBMM pics of many colours to help me in my quests! ;)
Though I know it would be a cost factor, I wish that the dealers had swatchs of the colours so you could get a realistic view of the real thing under real lighting.
