I've seen posts of people talking about how flats sound awesome on Bongos and I wanted to give them strings a try, what do you guys use?

Thank you in advance:cool:

I like EB flats a lot, and thats whats on my Sterling.

I also like TI flats and have them on my StingRay 5.

Ernie Ball! They DO make strings, I've heard.

You know, i've heard that too from somewhere, :phaha really though.....I have never seen a set EB flats anywhere. I seriously doubt that GC has them (they have been letting me down lately).

I might have to order some of them fine strings, I might have to give those TI's a try too.

Thanks guys

When I couldn't find EB flats locally, I mentioned it to GC, and they ordered some for me. You can also contact any of the fine EB/MM dealers who frequent the forum to order some.

I have Ernie Ball flats on two of my Bongos, and they are my favorite Bongo flatwound string, and I've tried 4, or 5, different brands on them.

I use Erin Ball Flats.
If you use the heavy guage ones, a neck adjustment may be in order.
As the heavy guage strings put more tension on the neck.
Enjoy experimenting. I did and really enjoy the flats on my Bongo..

Not even to my worst enemy would I recommend those things.

Of course, strings are like everything else.....somebody must like those things.

The Roto Steve Harris set make great barbeque skewers, although the E and A strings are only suited to skewering larger cuts of meat, such as a side of lamb, or full pig. The D and G strings are great for chicken pieces and onions.

the Rotos have been my fav. flats out of all that I've tried. Not only the regular Roto flats but also their black nylon tapewounds are killer.

TIs are fun but too rubbery for me. and as for the stiff 'uns , D'Addario Chromes are hellish (for me) in the tension dept.

BUT, as our faithful TI user...err...I mean as Lord Bongo has stated ( ;) ), EB do make flats and I might just have to get me some reeeeeal soon.

I imagine most people here know I use Acme Flats for the most part. It's a bad habit, like smoking or watching presidential debates, and I've worked on it.

Small steps.

I have EB group II flats on two basses that get played regularly.
