You know what they did for me? They brought my Bongo!!! Whoopee!!!

This thing doesn't have a scratch, dent or ding on it anywhere. It is pristine. I do need to oil the fret board, but that can wait until I put TI flats on it. I can't wait to go home and play it. I'll do some comparisons between my HH Bongo and my 55-02 this weekend and let you guys know how much better the Bongo sounds. Not that the 55-02 sounds bad, but I've played around with a Bongo before and I think it's going to kick a$$. Pics to follow tomorrow.

What Brown did for me was make me slave for a year for unfair wages and drive me insane.

Hi guys,

I played the Bongo for a while yesterday. I reeeaaallllyy like the sound that I'm getting out of it and I haven't even put the flats on it yet! One of the things I have a question about is that I've noticed the knobs turn very easily. Is this true on all Bongos? I like a little tension in the pots so they only turn when you want them to. The other thing that I noticed is the volume drop when the pickups are panned either way from center. Is this common? The basses that I've played in the past seem to compensate for volume when they're panned. Just wondering if somethings wrong or if it's like it's supposed to be.

I'm not very good at comparisons. I know what I like and that 's about as far as I analyze things. I also pulled out the 55-02 yesterday and A-B'ed the two. I ran them both flat through my Hartke Kickback 15 and the Bongo definitely has a fuller, more rounded tone than the 55-02. The Bongo just sounds to me like a bass should sound. A big, fat bottom end that has enough middle to deliver the high notes too. The 55-02 seems to be able to deliver one or the other, but not both at the same time.

The weathers been terrible here for the last two days, so I'll try to take pics this week.

My Bongo's knobs move much easier then my Ray's but I've never had a problem with them staying where I'd like them to be set. The output changes quite a bit if I pan mine to the bridge or neck...so I don't think there's anything wrong with your Bongo.

Thanks. When you buy a used one you always wonder if everything is the way it ought to be.

I believe the knobs are made of aluminum (aluminium to the rest of the planet--hey, guys! :D) to help cut down on weight. Mine are very easy to turn, too. It's just the nature of the beast.

All right... We'll give you one more day.

After that, we call your bluff. No pics, no Bongo.
