The main reason that I ask is that someone is selling this bass, and he said that someone from EBMM said it was Trans Purple? It doesn't look Trans ANYTHING to me. Any other ideas?

You could get the serial number and inquire in the Serial number thread,

That's the strange part. The seller did that already, and was told by EBMM that it was Trans Purple. I just don't understand how it can be called TRANS, because you can't see the wood grain. I guess I should just accept the word of the manufacturer huh? :)

This was the exact reply from EBMM from the serial number thread on page 211. I want to possibly want to buy this bass, but really want to know more about this color.

Hmmm .. interesting analysis of the color .. are you sure about the serial number? Our records tie that serial number with a bass built on 5/5/2000 and was sent to a pretty well-known country band. The finish is supposed to be Trans Purple.

It's some sort of red pearl now so the safe conclusion would be it was refinished. I guess you should point this out to the seller and negotiate the price accordingly. The good thing about the used EBMM market is that any aftermarket mods depress the value of the bass.

A pro finish is a pro finish. I agree with what you are saying with regards to pickups, preamp, etc. But not necessarily with a finish as long as it's a good job.

Would dis-assembly show any possible previous color? Perhaps under neck joint or in electronics compartment? Perhaps a stolen bass, repainted??? Of course the serial number would be like a vin number to be tracked if reported stolen.

Well I got the answer from the seller. He said that it was definitely a refin, but he has no idea who or what color it really is. He's NOT the original owner.

So what do you guys think a fair price would be for this bass. It's all original except for the unusual finish. Has a few nicks in the finish, but not too bad.
