Well, I'm thinking of trying a new set of pickups on my Silo Special (I change my pickups like most people change their underwear), but I'm also getting a bit sick of the CAndy Apple Red body/ Pearloid guard look, it was never something I chose- just the color that the best playing sounding and feeling guitar in the world happened to be :p.

I've gotten used to the red (it'd be vintage sunburst in a perfect world), but I've never really been a big pearloid guy and it'd be just as easy to drop in a new guard with the new pickups (maybe even easier, as it eliminates the step of removing the old pickups from the old guard), so I'm wondering what you guys think would look good, any pics would be helpful and appreciated!

put some black pickups on a white ice pickguard, or get a plain black PG and go wild with pickup colors :D

black guard with red pickup covers....

I was just thinking about that actually, it could be awesome or really dumb looking, plus I don't think the humbucker I'm looking at comes in red, so it's be red single coils and a black humbucker at the bridge. I do like the idea of going with a dark guard, like black or tortoise though.

Think I'd go with plain black with black covers and knobs. Black ice would be my second choice. Also, if you're getting a whole new pg assembly, you might consider the SSS option. They sound great.

I remember playing that Morse when I lived in NY, gorgeous guitar.

Personally, I can't stand tort but that combo is sexilicious:D

I've been looking at other Silo Specials to cover the SSS configuration (torn between that and a JP6), but my candy red special will always be my #1 and will always have a humbucker at the bridge, in fact there have been times where that's all it's had (but then I feel too much like I'm ripping off EVH.)

I think I am going to stick with 'regular' black pickups though, and probably go with black metal knobs.

Agrees with Foggy, Danny, that red AL/white ice looks great! And I typically don't like red bodies or white pg's. Something very classic 50's retro about it.
