I just got back from a local store...without Sterling in hand. They gave me $700 for it and with another $100, I walk out with a brand new candy apple red/rosewood Lakland 55-01 in tow.

Let me the bashing commence.

I'd just like for everyone to know, that strap pictured on the Lakland is no longer with us. It broke in two while I was playing the Lakland. It will be given a proper burial. Would anyone like to volunteer to give the eulogy.

In other news, I now have Dunlop straplocks on the 55-01 and will be interchanging my Comfort Strapp in bewteen my P-bass and Lakland.

I finally set down the Lakland earlier and picked up my P-bass to play her, and she just felt like a toy.

How's the neck width/profile compare to a Stingray 5? I like the look of the Laklands, but my left hand only likes smaller profile necks.

Ever tried wrapping your hand around a tree trunk? Yeah. That big. Bit it doesn't make a difference to me. No matter how big the neck, I have such a relaxed style that I can reach the low strings, no matter high wide the neck.

I would never have done that deal personally.
you traded a limited run, american made, instrument, for an import run of the mill bass, plus you gave up a hundred bucks.

the onyx is way cooler and way more valuable than the 55-01 will ever be.

but we've all done lame deals to get what we want at some point, i'm sure.

you had to throw down cash in addittion to your bass that was originally twice the price.

I would march into that music store and return the lakland and get the onyx back, be patient and you will get a solid G for it if you wait a little.

if you dig the bass, then cool. as long as you are happy i guess.
congrats

No case. I actually only got $650 for the Sterling. They originally were going to give $700, but I needed to keep my SKB case. I'd rather pay an extra $50 bucks and support a local indepenant store, than order from Musician's Whore.

Lame trade? No. The Sterling was not for me. It was a fling. I didn't not like the feel, the sound, or the looks of it. I paid $546 for the Sterling, and this local store was willing to give me $650 for it, so I do not see it as the losing deal. The Lakland is an amazing playing bass, and I regret nothing.

Hooray for Xcental for helping to stamp out the evil Musicians Fiend! Now if we can just get everyone to do that there would be world peace.

you asked for it

I assume from your strap that you are a brother in the Lord? Glad to know you my friend. :D It's very rewarding to play for God isn't it? :D I know I've never played better than I have since playing for Him!:D
I guess I'll go "New Testament" on ya for the Lakland deal. Just remember that one day every (Bassist's) knee will bow to the Bongo. :D (Sorry for the probably sacreligious paraphrase).:p
