I had been playing a J for years and then bought a SR4 and fell in love with, giged it for 7 years. On one very mad moment (in Holland)in time I sold it for a P bass, loved it for a while but missed the MM sound.

A friend of mine was selling a SR5,so i bought it,its amazing its beautiful its just great.......but I just cant dig the whole 5 string vibe.it feel funky and is great as our singer like to drop the key in some songs and the extra B makes that so easy.

I just really want a SR4 again, but cant afford to but another Bass (just became a dad).

I have 3 basses

P (2 years old, never going to make any decision in Holland again!)

J (1986,had it for years,cant sell it)

SR5 (just beautiful, but 5 sting does ot feel as natural to me)

Do i keep the p bass ( i do like it every now and then) and sell the sr5 so i will have a SR4 and a p bass, just accept that i am not a 5 string man.

or sell the P so i have an SR4 and a SR5

Do i just need to 5 strings more time??

Cheers,
DTG

Hi DTG

How long have you had the 5-string for? Perhpas you do need to give the SR5 a bit more time.

having said that - I've always been a 4 string kind of guy, never really got to grips properly with 5 string basses, sounds like you really want to go back to a SR4 ...

If you sold the P bass or the SR5, which would you miss more? and which would you play the most if you bought a SR4? - if you're into the Stingray sound I'd sell the P bass and add a SR4 to your collection.

Or if you are really not into the 5 stringers sell the P bass and the SR5, and get yourself a SR4 and a bongo ... :)

Or you could advertise it as "for trade" in the for sale sticky at the top, as there may be someone looking to swap their SR4 for an SR5. Pics?

I suppose you would be going with her?

That Blue Dawn is really nice. You know it's the color for the '07 Limited Editions this year. There was so much demand for it they decided to bring it back just for one year.

Thats a nice road trip, there is some nice gigs in Ireland. There is also some strange ones too.Cork! up 2 flights of stairs across a pool room down another flight of stairs go straight through a restaurant into a bar where the stage is at the other end up another set of stairs.........after all that its one of the best gigs in Cork!!

There is also a couple of good American Football teams along the route, but thats for another thread
