Hey guys! So Im pretty much sold on EBMM. Now the fun part is deciding which model..Your input is much appreciated. :)

Here is my criteria:
-Im a lead player, through and through. I love lots of articulation and response. I don't want anything covered up or drowned out(cough, EMG pickups, cough). I often use a single coil because I like how gritty and raw they sound. If not that, it's probably because I kicked it up to the bridge hum because I want the extra harmonics/dynamics.

-I prefer thinner necks, but truth be told, I can get used to anything so long as it doesn't feel like it's slowing me down. Imo, that is more in the quality of the fretwork, rather than actual specs. About the only thing I couldn't get used to was a Jackson neck. Always felt so awkward. My current axe is a Jem if that says anything about my preferences. I have rather thin fingers and small hands, so wide spacing/boat neck really isn't necessary.

-I do a lot of whammy bar stuff. So a good floating trem is a must. It must stay in tune! My Jem holds tune very well, in spite of abuse. I found the Jp6 I played to hold tune, despite deliberate violent wrenching on the whammy bar. My previous go-to axe, which had a Wilkinson, ended up going to ebay for it's inability to take abuse.

the luke 3 HSS looks like a good candidate to youe style (floating trem, passive pups and active boost in case you need more bite)

neck is a v shape

Yes, the new Y2D and the Standard Morse floyd's both float. The original ones did not float. Not sure what year they added the floating ability, so be careful if you buy a used one.

Kodee_Peyote ... since you like single coil tones you should try either the Y2D or the Standard Morse. I was an "I" user myself (RG's and JS) and I'm totally in love with my Morse's. The bridge 'flutters' nice too.

One of my Morse's has a floyd and I abuse it (AKA - Lifting the guitar by the bar and violently shacking the guitar ala Vai) quiet often and it always stays in tune.

I already have 2 Morse's and I'm looking to sell off the rest of the "I's" I have to buy another Morse with a floyd in the near future.

Luke III HSS sounds like a real winner.

However if I may.... An Axis Super Sport MM90 with vintage trem might fit te bill wonderfully. That MM90 in the neck gives you a ballsy single coil growl that also sounds sparkly clean. Jamie Humphries puts in a soapbar humbucker in the bridge. Wow. What a veritable rock machine that is.

A 25 is also a winner. My personal favorite. Parallel settings give you great clean tones and the pups can handle the dirt as well.

Thanks for the confirmation.

This will sound strange, but I never use the trem anymore. For times when I used to use the trem, my Axis with the floyd was worlds better than any of my vintage trem Musicman guitars (I have 3 of those). I've had other guitars with floating floyds and although I don't know why I had them, they were outrageously in tune all the time, even floating. So my recommendation is to try either of the Morse models with a new, floating floyd. The pickup combinations right from the factory are just about everything you could every dream of wanting.

I'm with LegGodt on this one. The Y2D or regular Morse with the floating floyd will be able to handle above and beyond what you require. I also added a push pull pot to split the neck humbucker on my Y2D for the single coil tones. It has awesome midrange and great crunch with the maple top. The pickups are very distinct though and not everyone likes them, but a pickup swap is not a big deal. I personally love the stock pickups and the non traditional 250K pots...has a warmer and rounder tone and much more response from the volume and tone pots. The neck is very comfortable but you also have to consider if you require 24 frets because that you will only find on the JP models and Silhouette.

Thanks for the input everyone! I ended up buying a Y2D with a brass-upgraded OFR from a member here. I will see about posting a video once it arrives. :)

The Jem actually belongs to my ex business partner, and I've got to give it back soon! Plus the extra bridge is useful, because I've got a project guitar that is missing just that. :D

Your guitar will be in good hands. It's going to get daily playtime.

You are aware that the one you bought is the older version without the trem route correct? Just making sure, because you wont be able to do those crazy Vai things where you shake the hell out of the guitar just by holding the whammy bar.

Shouldn't be an issue.

And if it is, I will fix it. ;)

Ok cool. I was just making sure. So you are going to do what Vai did back in the day? Take a hammer and chisel so the trem can float? hahaha Just kidding of course. Enjoy the guitar...it's awesome!

God no! I just like to be able to get a step or two upward for dramatic effect. I usually run a low action, so any hardcore pullups are bottomed out when the strings hit the frets.
