I was wondering what guitars John Petrucci used on the Dream Theater album Metropoils Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory?

was he using EBMM?

I believe on the commentary track to the Scenes DVD, he said that he used his Ibanez's to record the CD and the EBMM signature model was ready in time for the tour.

I could have sworn when I saw them in Feb 2000 he was still with Ibanez. I could be wrong though, that was almost 10 years ago...... Plus we got kicked to the curb by the Fire Marshall at that show.

I'm pretty sure he was still with Ibanez for the first part of the tour. I've seen an Ibanez JPM with piezo that was used for Home during that time.

By the time they were in Minneapolis on that tour (mid-Feb???) I'm pretty sure that he was using the Music Man guitars.

He recorded the thing with Ibanez IIRC. He got prototypes of his EBMM during the tour. If you look at his guitars on the DVD of that tour, he's still playing prototypes of the EBMM at that time.

+1. He used Ibanez. EBMM signature model came in the latter half of the tour. I think the reason he missed a few easy notes on the SFNY DVD was because he was still getting used to it.

Tone on the album is not as smooth as his newer tone with the EBMM.

thanks for the info guys!

I actually like the tones and production on the SFAM album a lot. My favourite DT album. A high point for them I've always thought.
