I was just thinking about that earlier in the back garden. I guess there's a few ways of looking at it:

1. The rarest or most highly collectable. Gold top EVH for example

2. The 1 you really want (like a 7 string JP buttercream for me)

3. The most expensive to order right now. Like a purple Y2D with floyd and all the bells and whistles which i read in another thread to be around the £2200 mark. Or maybe there is something that can be ordered that would set you back even more.

Now i know you can't post dealer prices. This is all just out of curiosity really. I know you can get an EBMM for less than £1000 and the quality is still fab. But I'd just like everybodys views on the above points. Something to think about on this blistering hot day

1. Mr. Horsepower

2. An Envy Green Limited Edition JP6 (Oh yeah - I have one)
Of course if a maple topped JP6 became available . . . :D

3. The 20th Silo I'd guess - I've heard numbers approaching $3500 bantered about, but I haven't priced one.

1. Not counting prototypes, personality-owned/signed, etc. means that only "generally available" instruments should be considered. The 70's StingRay and EVH models would tend to be the most collectible from the values they command on the used market.

The tone, build quality and features on the new Rays are at a point where I think most of us would prefer a new one over the pre-EB models. I've stopped looking for a vintage Ray, if I do pick one up it will be purely for a collection and not for logical reasons.

2. Tobaccoburst Morse Y2d is gorgeous. If BP & Co. were to make a flametop Petrucci or Luke that would shoot right to the top of my list.

3. A fully equipped Y2D with premium top, matching headstock and floyd trem is the most expensive one right now, but the 7-string John Petrucci with Piezo might be up in that range, too.

I'd love a LE AL but my recent car crash may have put that on hold as I have to fund another car before I get any compo.

I also go with Brent on the Black EVH.

I know Albert had a AL with a b - bender installed and I would go for that too.

or the very first EB MM to leave Slo. ( I wonder what/ wher that is?)

Why, the ones that won't ever get made, of course. It's human nature to desperately seek that which you cannot have. It's also human nature to NOT buy it as soon as it's made available.

BP has spoken eloquently and at length about the frustration associated with this.

Here's my own pitiful list of instruments made of unobtanium:

- Mahogany Bongo from the Open House:
BiffMahoganyBongo2.jpg

- Blue Dawn Bongo 5H w/piezo (see Dargin's avatar, which continues to torture me).

- Bongo guitar.

In the realm of reality, I'd like:

- Fretless, lined Bongo 5H w/piezo
- Silhouette Special (not that I can play guitar worth a damn, but it's fun to screw around with it once in a while)

An Autumn Redrise or Gold Sparkle JP6 are high on my list of wants.

My next EB will probably be an Axis with a premium quilt top in Pacific Blue Burst and matching headstock.

Commercially available - Mr Horsepower

Artist related - EVH's 5150 Amber Quilt - I keep thinking about changing one of mine to look like his, but nothing beats the real thing.

For me, one of the Mr. Horsepower guitars would be #1... The black, one-off neck-through BP made based on the Albert Lee model but with humbuckers would be a very close second...
