I was actually going to post this earlier! This looks like a EARLY Silhouette, and it looks liike it's in good condition. A serial # would be nice to get so we can get some info on this one. This might be a very good snag for someone here. There was another one like it, but Ernie got that one :). If it IS the real thing, it is a piece of history :D.

I'd guess that the SKB case isn't original though? I might've misinterpretted but I was under the impression that SKB cases came along much after when this would've been made.

I was just about to post a thread about this one. I was gonna scream "fake", but it actually looks rather convincing.

Interested to know what it turns out to be.

That looks like one of the early (pre-91 or so) Silo's to me. It still has 6-bolt neck and they switched to 5-bolt around 91 some time. Silo's were available with HSS config then (Silo Special didn't exist at that time I beleive).

I think it's a real thing, but i would check the serial if I was buying it.

I saw this one earlier and wondered if it was a fake.

With all the Chinese fakes out there, you never know...

This is a first or second year Silhouette with Schaller bridge and pickups, and from the looks of it I'd say it has the optional WIDE neck profile too! You don't see these around that often any more, but according to a new vs. old Silhouette comparison Guitarist Magazine (UK) did back in their June 2003 issue, not quite as refined as the current production model, so it may not feel quite as slick as contemporary Sil's... Still, a very cool catch for someone...

As others have said, that is a fairly nice example of an early ('86/'87) Silhouette, aside from the two extra holes. Maybe an owner moved the strap button to the back of the horn and tried a couple of different locations?

Good eye award to Jimi D - I also think it has the wide neck option. A lot of early Silos had that s/s/h pickup assembly, particularly the ones with that "Kahler-esque" Schaller locking trem. Back in the day the Silo had a modular pickup assembly - the wired pickguard attached to the output jack with a modular plug, so you could swap between s/s/h, s/s/s, h/s/h, and h/h assemblies.

However, the case should be a G&G on such an early EBMM; the SKB cases became standard sometime later (late 1990s maybe?).
