Steve Lukather is my favourite, though I do prefer his non-fusion stuff. Cristophe Godin is a good cat to check out

Gotta go with John McLaughlin. I first saw his band at the House of Blues in the early 90s and was completely blown away....... then I heard Mahavishnu Orchestra. Case closed.

Another thumbs up for Michel Cusson - I saw him in Toronto with UZEB many years ago. Blistering is the adjective that comes to mind. He was heavy into guitar synth too - lots of interesting colours to offset the blistering stuff.

Alain Caron, the bassist from UZEB toured with Mike Stern for awhile. That trio was hot, hot, hot - I caught them in a little club in Victoria, BC that is long gone.

I've seen Mike Stern a few times but the most mind-boggling was with Jaco's band at The El Mocambo. The world is a darker place with Jaco gone.

I'd throw Steve Khan's name into the mix - and Andy Summers has done some cool stuff too.

Guthrie Govan! I dont think he is human. His playing is just amazing. Never dull and always inspiring to listen to. Now if he just played EBMM!

Honestly, the only fusion guitarist that I can listen to lately is Allan Holdsworth. That man is tight, has some chops and serious groove. The album(s) w/ J. Berlin were absolutely KILLIN'!

Mclaughlin, Di Meola, Morse, Gambale,

There is a guy from my hometown named Paul Brown who is the best jazz fusion guy I've ever seen, and I've seen a bunch of them. He has a band that launched the career of my buddy Christian Howes who is a SICK jazz violinist.

Interestingly enough, Christian just did an album with Robben Ford. For you Robben Ford fans, check out Christian Howes
