I know that its difficult for people to understand and in some cases tolerate us left handed guitarists. So I figure I'll add a little insight. I'm not looking for sympathy or to make a huge point, just doing this for myself and fellow lefties.
Imagine you're 16. You see all these awesome cars and people driving them all the time. However you can't even try them out since you don't have a license. You have to watch what seems like everyone else get to be in their car, or even try out cars. Simply, they aren't available to you. No matter how much complaining and whining and no matter how many valid points you have you still can't drive the damn car. So you are forced to look at other cars or "drive" your bicycle.
Thats kinda what its like to look at Ernie Ball Music Man guitars and being a lefty.
But, now we don't have to do that anymore, we are "of age" (to continue the metaphor) and are able to get a left handed John Petrucci model.
I would have to say, thats what its like for me, its a wonderful feeling, except for the wait. But the knowledge that you can have something that so many other people have, is a wonderful feeling. That and its a quality product.
Thank you again Sterling!

Well said Twilight. I agree of course. But,there are people on here that don't share our enthusiasm, and will say "enough of the lefty JP's blah blah blah. I don't understand knocking other people's excitement.
I've heard many people talk about their love of AL's and how they have 5 of them and what-not. There is almost a new post everyday about them and that is GREAT, I'm happy for each and every one of them. I wish they would cut us some slack sometimes and let us just be happy.

Lefties need love too. :)

Good posts twilight and Lgb. I agree with you guys. Some people think, "what's the big deal?" and it is a big one. A lot of lefties have been waiting for a JP LH for a while and are excited (including myself). I hope many can understand our joy and just let us be lol

Once again, didn't make the post for sympathy or anything, despite how it may look like I do. Just felt like explaining that it does mean a lot for a company to recognize all its kinds of customers and offer things to help satisfy them.

I agree wholeheartedly...
I mean we all know the left handed have no souls...

So to make a guitar specifically to satisfy them, is nothing short of amazing.

Who the hell is Tim??

I hear he's some wishy washy guy that has been lobbying for left handed guitars for a very long time. Based on what I have surmised through online research, he seems like a rad dude, but maybe a little bit of a lameass when it comes to sentimentality.

I had to wait 5 years for my left-handed piano!

I suppose the whole concept of playing the wrong way is hard to understand, It's only a convention that the left hand is the fretting hand but the guitar is one of very few instruments that people play the "wrong" way. In my case there's no sense to it at all, since I am very much not left handed, it was just the way that felt right for some reason.

It is frustrating trying to find guitars, and almost impossible to try out the various models. I have bought pretty much one of every guitar available via EBay and then sold on the ones that didn't suit.
EBMM do deserve praise for making so many of their models backwards, and especially in such a huge range of colours. Not so all other companies..

Gibson- Only available via the Custom Shop at huge prices
Rickenbacker-All models theoretically available lefty, but an 18 month wait and they weren't taking lefty orders last I heard
Paul Reed Smith- Nothing now, unless you want to pay an astronomical price for a "Special Reserve" model
Fender-Some models available lefty, generally in a more limited choice of colours, but Fender have always been a friend of the leftward
G&L- Lots of lefty models....I´m not an expert on the colour availability or wait time

Compare them with EBMM which has about half the range available backwards (by coincidence all the models I like!!!) but with all the same options as the right handed ones, colours, fretboards, bridges, headstocks. Also the company has now responded to the many requests for a lefty JP......my interests lie elsewhere in the range, but I can surely share the enthusiasm of the others. I don't understand the "lefty bashing" stuff.

I actually get really frustrated when I look at other companies selection to keep my knowledge base up. I hate knowing that they are so anti-leftist. I don't know if I'm allowed to do this on here, but I do give props to G&L because they offer quite the selection of left handed guitars. I once had an ASAT and stupidly parted with it. Ahh well, found the Silhouette Specials and life is good.

That's badass that you got a left handed piano. I always wondered if they existed.
