I have always though my bass got polyurethane finish with gloss.
But one of friend told me that mine looks something else after he saw some dent and cracked part.
do you know any idea about this finish ?

Looks like a trans green to me...could be wrong though. how about post the serial number and that will let you know for sure. :cool:

I think he's talking about the lacquer/poly finish as opposed to the colour.

No clue on my part but one of the guys in the know will bop along shortly.

Polyester.

What did your friend think it was?
Polyester ?? not Urethane ?? My friend though "not polyurethane". Probably my confusing. I thought my stingrays got urethane on it. Just checked it again and it says Polyester, not urethan....

Anyway.
Polyester can crack and chipped like mine ? :_:

Yup. The 2002 Ray I bought used has a long finish crack in the back.

I don't know if the crack gradually got longer before I bought it, but I added a drop of Super Glue (cyanoacrylate) at each end, which hopefully will prevent the crack from lengthening.
