So I have the fret-rest system and it is falling apart. Also some of the padding on my guitar stands is coming apart. (Damn this dry Arizona Sunshine) I thought about replacing them but then I remembered that some materials don't react well with guitar finishes.
What are those materials?

I believe this is only a concern on guitars with a nitro cellulose finish. You'll be OK with EBMMs as they are poly lacquered.

I can't speak from experience, but I'd probably steer clear of Sulphuric Acid.
;)

Honestly NorM.. bag that system. Buy some Rock-n-Roller neck rests from Stew-Mac and just put down a nice soft towel or cloth or padding when you work on your axes.

I have a set and they're great. The parts that touch the guitar neck are lined with cork. You get contact with the neck at two points instead of one, which helps keep the neck from bowing under the weight of the guitar.

These are nice when working with LPs or PRSs or other back-angled setneck
guitars with a tilt-back headstock, but I can't imagine why you'd bother with an EBMM. I just use my well-worn "guitar towel" under the body - with the EBMM design, the guitar's headstock doesn't touch the table when it's laying flat on it's back...

Good points, Jimi D. I'm just a creature of habit, I suppose! :)

I have both sizes of this device, one for electric solidbodies and one for acoustics. The one for the acoustic comes in very handy as well.
