hey guys, i decided since i have two axis guitars i'd sell my one with the string thru body to buy a new petrucci. anyone know what i should ask for it? no dings or nothing dead mint. only a few months old. check out pic. comes with case.
Estin,is it an Axis Sport???It looks like it since it has a tone and volume knob.I have exactly the same guitar as you have besides it only has a volume knob,no tone.I have an Axis.
On Ebay usually Axis sport models go for less than the usual Axis.Usually a sport sells for $ 700 the most and an Axis $ 900 the most. Why don't you try Ebay anyway???Good luck.
Funny enough I am going to buy a JP model aswell! Are you going to buy the cheaper model without the matching headstock? That's what I am going to get.I wouldn't care for the piezo also.I don't want the case either, that saves another $ 100.
Actually Ekib, it is an Axis Super Sport. Looks to have the Orange maple top.
The Super Sport would actually be more desireable to buy than the fixed bridge string through Axis because it has a tone knob, and a 5 way pickup selector switch. Other than that, it is identical to a fixed bridge Axis.
I have seen them go for less than $900 on ebay, but since Estin said it is only a few months old, and if it is in fact in "dead mint" condition, I would say $950 or more.
Guitars are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. Hell, I just traded a 1994 PRS custom 24 even up for a purple 2000 EBMM Axis. Now, some would say I got ripped off, that the PRS is worth more, but I just didn't find it as comfortable as an Axis.
Sorry Estin, I just got the purple EBMM, and if I want to keep that and my wife, I'd better pass on your guitar.
ekib, it is a axis super sport. the axis sport is no longer produced. the super sport is the same as normal axis only without floyd rose and it has a added tone knob. the axis sport models which were discontinued were usually solid color tops without matching headstock with no binding. i seen alot with rosewood fretboards as well. i don't even want to sell this axis, but like nobozos, i want to get a petrucci and keep my girlfriend. LOL damn, i'm also in the market for a custom shop b.c. rich meegs conti check it out. i'm torn
I didn't really know the difference between the sport models. The point is I tried a Sport, when I wanted to buy my Axis, and I thought the Axis was better for me.I really think they are 2 different guitars.
Which JP model are you going to buy Estin???I am just going for the cheapest model. The one without the matching headstock.
I am not crazy about BC Rich.I would never buy a guitar that doesn't have a neck pick up.Maybe it would do for a pure rhytm player but still...since I am into MM now I am not even considering buying something else, they are the best guitars to me and so much more afordable that different topbrand brands. But hey,I am not putting it down.I am sure that BC Rich works for other guitarplayers, not me though...
i'm prolly gonna get a black JP with matching headstock, but no special inlay or peizo option stuff. as for the b.c. rich i love that guitar. i'm a new/modern metal player so having only a bridge pickup works for me. *looks cool too i think* if i get it i'm gonna set it up for low B. man its early.....i think i'll go play my axis.
Hey Estin, sounds like you've already got your mind made up on the JP, but I just have to ask you something. Is the JP really the guitar for you? Do you like the feel of the Axis?
I guess the reason I ask is because the neck on the JP and the Axis are so different. I can't imagine someone who feels comfortable on an Axis neck going for a JP. I played one, and the impression I got of it was it was kind of like a Ibanez Wizard II neck, really thin, flat and wide.
If you're not hung up on JP, or having his name on your guitar, you may want to try a Luke. The neck is more like that of the Axis, and the overall shape of the guitar is basically the same. Actually the neck is kind of "V" shaped, like the Fender Eric Clapton model.
Anyway, I don't mean to offer unsolicited advice, but I just can't see the big leap from one style of neck to something competely different.
well i'm not too hung up on the jp, i was at first but not so much anymore. after all i am really considering the b.c. rich meegs conti. i'm not sure what i'm gonna do. i might just hold off because i love my axis guitars so much. another thing that bothers me about a jp is i hate signature gear. i don't even like JP's music either. i think i just want to keep both my axis guitars. nobozos, i think you made out way better with a new EB axis in the PRS trade. got a pic of that thing?
I know the JP is different than the Axis. But is still a MM.I mean it is still a relatively small guitar like the Axis is.What I really liked about the JP is the tremelo,it has the best feeling I have ever felt on a tremelo. The thing is really cool.I hate the tremelo on the Axis,it is so heavy and it is hard to get a good feeling out of it.It only seems to be made for divebombs, that's all.I want more out of a tremelo than just that.
I wouldn't care it is a signature model. So was the EVH and isn't that a great guitar???It is all about quality, that's what matters.
Estin, are you more a nu player??Than I can guess the BC Rich is a great guitar for that.
yeah i'm a nu/modern metal player. the b.c. rich would be awesome for that indeed, but i think my axis guitars are the best for it. it always boggles people when they see all the kids breaking out their ibanez's and stuff at metal shows and then they see me break out like 2 ernie ball's. we all have different tastes i guess, but one day they'll all realize my taste is better.
