EB Regular Slinky. I've tried two sets of Elixir Nanoweb's, didn't have to change a string for about half a year!!! Almost no loss of treble, no string breaking. They are expensive but worth every cent.
I have the only 5-string strings i could find at my local store,, they are some kind of peavey strings. So i decided to get online to shop. I was really pissed about the quality of them, they wer horible as soon as i put them on, and now they are even worse. So i d
I use EB's because they're the easiest to come by and the last a long time, tho' I've been known to rock me some DR's and some Elixirs in the past at times.
I use Webstrings. They last a good month of regular playing, and I get 12 packs for about $31(shipping included). I haven't tried EB's in years. I should get a pack to see if there is reason why I didn't continue to use them. It has been so long I can't remember if there was. I know that I used D'Addarios before Webstrings, but I can't remember what I used before that. I do remember that I hated Dean Markley strings.
Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkys on all electrics that are tuned to the folling tunings: standard, drop-D, half step down, drop-D half step down, full step down and drop-D full step down. GHS Zakk Wylde Low Tune on the guitar that is in drop-B. Ernie Ball Not even Slinkys on guitars tuned 2 steps down(sometimes I use Beefy Slinkys for these guitars). Still trying to find a good set of strings for the baritone. If anyone has any suggestions on baritone strings, please feel free to post them
Super Slinkys...have used them for years. I've tried Fender, GHS, Dean Markley, and Gibson...Super Slinkys are the best by far...although, for my acoustic, I have tried the Black Diamond Coated strings and LOVE THEM!!!...I might try a set on one of the electrics and see what they do....regardless, I love the EB strings
I play Super Slinky strings on all my electrics. I haven't used any other strings for ages. I remember that I tried GHS Boomers, and SIT, and those cryo ones (Blue Ice or something like that?)... anyway, the others didn't make the grade. They either broke too easily (GHS), or felt odd (SIT), or didn't last very long (the Blue-somethings).
Now that I've got a MusicMan Petrucci guitar on order, it looks like I'll be playing 10's on that one (Regular Slinky), since that's the string the factory recommends.
For my acoustic I think I use Dean Markley's. I remember trying Earthwood strings once and I didn't like them for some reason. I'll have to give them another spin. Maybe they were too buzzy or something.
I just tried out EB Slinky R&R EB2252 009-046 on my Strat HSS, which sounds
very good, but slightly too soft for me. I used Fender original Bullets (nickel
wound) before.
I going to stay at EB so far, but wanna try nickel wd. instead of pure nickel
next - and 010's or 011's
any idea how far you can go with string gauge, without harmin' her?
