Howdy!

I picked up some super slinky bass strings when I bought my new ernie ball musicman 4 bass......and 2 weeks later they're as dead as can be.

Any suggestions as too what kind of strings and what guage you fellows have had luck with? A string does depend on your style so it might be useful to include that info as well.

Thanks!

I think all brands go dead too fast. I'm a fingerstyle player. I go for a mid-heavy tone with a defined bottom and a slight bit of high end zing. I've had good results with EB Hybrids, D'Addario XL's, and GHS Boomers in 45-65-85-105 gauges. I try to wipe my strings down after playing. When they start getting dull I throw em in boiling water, then I wipe em down with rubbing alcohol. This helps for a few days. When they start getting dull again I trash the set. If you're a slapper stainless steel roundwounds are the ticket. You can even get away with using a lighter gauge(45-65-80-100). It's also cheaper to buy your strings online several sets at once rather than buyiing locally one set at a time.
