Just curious to know what type of guitar was your first guitar? Where is it now? What turned you onto EBMM guitars? I'll go first.

Technically my very first guitar was an ibanez RG model alongside a line 6 spider amp. Took it home without even playing it. All I knew at that point was I was already 22 years old and hadn't even started to play guitar yet. John Petrucci was and still is my idol for many reasons but, primarily, for his abilities on the guitar. By the time John was my age he was already in studio recording albums. It was a now or never type of deal. Now, knowing that I idolized John naturally my dream guitar became the JP6. More specifically in the Mystic Dream finish. At the time there was no way I could afford one so I got what I thought at the time would be the next best thing and, like John, I would start out with an ibanez guitar(I realize now that John didn't start off with ibanez and that it was just basically his first endorser.) so in my mind it was a win. But boy, was I wrong. There was a lot wrong with the guitar: Dead frets, buzzing what have you. What made it even worse was it had some cheap Floyd rose type of tremolo on it and I had no KNOWLEGE what-so-ever on how to tune one. I still don't to this day and from my understanding theyre not the easiest things to deal with. Anyway, needless to say I got absolutely frustrated and discouraged. Two days later I was back at guitar center returning both the amp and guitar all while paying about 350 dollars in restocking fees.

At that moment I decided that if I was going to buy a guitar I would just buckle down and save for a JP6 and so, I did just that. But by the time I had enough for it the JPX had just come out and decided to go with that one. I can't tell you how happy I am with it. For the first few months the only amp I had for it was a little 2 watt Roland micro cube but let me tell ya. I was in heaven!

I've rambled long enough but I feel I've answered all three questions. I apologize for any typos. Thanks for reading. Please share your story! :)

My first guitar was a Levin acoustic.. Don't remember wich model, but my mom bought it for me, and forced me to a two year classical course.
I still play classical music, and it breaks my heart the guitar is gone.. The neck was damaged beyond repair.

You guys have me trumped! My first guitar was an Abilene AS-10 strat copy, with a Pyramid amp. The amp had a "Bass X-Pander" circuit that took the tone from mud to vibrating mud!

Since then I've added a couple Ibanez, Fender, Washburn and Takamine axes to the stable. None even come close to my EBMM ASS in playability or tone. I always wanted an EBMM, especially after playing a friend's Stingray -- even as a noob in the early 2000s, I could tell that EBMM's were top-notch. Didn't want a Gibson, because far too many friends had horror stories about broken necks and headstocks. Now that I think about it, I've never seen an EBMM with a broken neck or headstock.

Anyway, it's gonna be EBMM from here on out. Next up, whenever I find my next journalism job -- a Pinkburst BFR Albert Lee.

1st: 67 Guild blond T-50 archtop. My parents traded it in 69 toward my 2nd guitar.
2nd 69 Guild Studio 302 double cutaway archtop (think Johnny A guitar). I still have it.

It was a purlpe metallic Guild Burnside Lance V guitar. I traded it in for a cool black Aria Pro II Knight Warrior guitar and the trades went on for years! Sir EVH turned me on to EBMM guitars.

First Guitar - something from Sears - looked like a Jaguar crossed with a duo-sonic. Sold it my cousin when I upgraded - he won't sell it back despite not playing. I was introduced to Steve Morse's playing by my guitar teacher when I was really into alternate picking....ergo - was introduced to EB some 20 years ago.

Barely playable 50's Supro Archtop. (Currently in pieces, in my "fix it up one day in the distant future" pile.)

Then a strat copy I built at a local shop that had a build-your-own-guitar course. Logged a zillion notes on that baby.

my first guitar was a 1956-57 Gibson Les Paul Jr double cut away (still have it) and i played it for years. took it to high school and let friends borrow it... it's amazing that i still have it and it didn't get stolen. Looking back... that was a big risk.

I got turned onto EBMM in high school with EVH playing them and just fell in love with the shape and tone of his stuff in the late 90s. Never really could afford one and landed an OLP which brought me to this forum trying to get questions answered about the OLP that was sold to me... (Sorry BP for all those PM's i had no clue... ;) ) and then i got into the Big boys game of EBMM via Keith with my 20th and then bought a second EBMM silo a week later on craigslist...

i love ebmm guitars and though i have a few others brands in my collection as well i always leviate towards my 20th.

$150 Hohner Acoustic, bought from Denver pawn/music shop.....no clue what I was buying. POS compared to what you can get today for $150. This was pre internet sales driven era.

Beginning guitarists today have it much better than we did 20 years ago...hehe....I sound old (I'm 43).

1st Electric was '96 USA Strat. I was listening to SRV and Robert Cray religiously.

1st Ball was a Honeyburst Axis bought in 2006, turned onto EBMM through the man EVH.

I'll show my age a Hofner Senator (Blond) :) A real pig to play but when I was kid I thought it was as close to heaven as you could get without dying.

Wow what a story! I don't think I'd go there though. With the family that is, unless, you're very close with them and the guitar has no sentimental value. I've already had it arranged to have me buried with my JPX if anything happens to me. So that takes care of that.

Exactly how I feel. Love affair is a great way to describe it. I'm constantly trying to figure out ways I can get more balls!
