So, I've got a third car that's been sitting in my garage collecting dust. It was my car before my wife and I got married and long before we had kids. It's literally been driven less than 50 miles in the last three years.

My wife, friends, and family all bust my chops about not selling it. We have a car tax here in Virginia and having a car that isn't used is a major waste. It's long been paid off and gave me many good years of service. So, I'm using my GAS for a new Ball as an excuse to get off my duff and sell that car. It's also a great justification for the Ball purchase. "Honey, I won't even be using our checkings or savings to buy it....the car will pay for it with some left over for more gear" ;)

This got me thinking. What have you sold (or what would you sell) to help pay for another Ball?

My body.

;)

Seriously, I'd probably sell a car to subsidize some ball purchases; heck, I'd even forgo buying the car and just lease a fleet of balls :D I've got legs! (provided I haven't sold them)

I sold an 88 Stratocaster after I got my Silo Spec. It had sentimental value, but I knew I wasn't going to play it any more so I sold it.

I sold a 74 Rickenbacker bass to the same guy and immediately bought my Stingray. (I should have got more for the Ric. Oh well)

Lastly did a straight up trade for my SUB1. A guy posted an for a trade on Craigslist, so I met him at his work and swapped my old Ibanez S470. The 470 was a decent guitar, but the imitation Floyd-Rose was not that hot.

i have an old jazzmaster- its a frankenstein.. original pre cbs body and electronics, but its been stripped.. and has a reissue japenese neck.. but its just not as reliable as i need it to be in studio and live it has died on me several times... which means the love of the thing is comprimised by the fact that its not performing very well..

i am at the moment planning on offloading that and getting 2 balls for studio and touring!!

is that greedy!? i reckon in europe i could get roughly about £1000 for it.. which if i came to US would be $ 2000.. what do you reckon a few secondhand balls or just one.. but which one.. choices choices!! suggestions?

It's old. A 1996 Integra with 136K on the odo. Nothing fancy. Now, if it were a '96 Porsche 911...that would be a different story!

I have a '94 Integra GSR w/ 208,000 miles on it and it is my daily driver. I have to drive all over for work too and it is still going strong! Great cars. If you don't drive it though then i'd sell it. It's worse for it to sit than anything... It would probably sell for enough to buy any BFR you wanted!

96 an "Old" integra??

Even the GSR block that I'm building up for my racecar is from 94. That's too new for me. It'll sell well, between the Honda craze and gas prices. I have a couple integras in my yard (89 that is literally just the windshield and portions of the roof and firewall....and a 91 that's just the bare chassis). I've all but ignored all my car stuff since rediscovering my guitar back in February.

I'm pretty devious. I've bought a number of guitars to figure out what I like, don't like, want, don't want. Out of the 7 I now own, only my 69 Guild is off limits for sale. If I find a good, local Axis, I'll sell off several. All have been bought used, so should bring back at least what I paid for them......some double what I paid for them.

What I figured out I like?
Maple neck and fretboard.
Simple as possible controls (1 volume, 1 switch is all I want)
HH setup. I don't like a middle pickup. It interferes with how I play.
A trem that I can block or is surface limited so I can do 2 tone bends without affecting other strings.
I do like the quilt tops.....pretty much any color.

.....oh.....and scrap steel is at $250 a ton right now......I've got enough to get me going....or to pay for another OLP. :D

Well, I can say I'm trying to get rid of:

A Kent Guitar

An Ibanez RG350DX w/ Dimarzio Pickups

Marshall AVT150H and a Marshall 1960B 4x12

A fender stratocaster

A crate Combo Amp

Behringer FCB1010

aaand

TC Electronics G Major.

...all for one ball. Nobody wants this crap though, which sucks because if it all sold I would be able to buy a brand new Ball for what it would cost

All of my guitars except my Axis and a couple with sentimental value are for sale to fund the next one. Not much luck so far, though. I've only sold the OLP. Even if I do sell them all (all but one are cheapos), and I'll still have some money to make up.
