I'm sitting here chillin and playing my basses. currently Im trading back and forth between the HH Ray and the HH Sterling.

The Sterling sounds better to me, i set it up better (so it plays better) and the neck is the comfortable sterling neck ive loved for years... its awesome. so why do i think I like the HH Ray better?

I dont get it. There's something about this specific bass. we get along... its got that intangible mojo

[These aren't my words, I'm just passing them on from a really BIG voice;
if I have to guess, I think it has something to do with solar flares ??? / pl]

Some basses are like that... I played 2 identical Bongo HH's at GC about 2 months ago. Same config... almost identical setup (ie crappy) but 1 just spoke to me.

I've also got the HH and H Bongos. I can, like Dargin said, dial in more sounds with the HH. The HH has a little more girth to its tone and my friends like the sound of the HH better...but what do? I keep going back to play... the H.

I don't pretend to understand it but it happens.

i think it might have something to do with the finish too. honestly - as lame as that sound I think its possible. THe sterling is saph black w/ moonstone PG and the ray is trans orange w/ tort. Is the fact that this bass has a dark finish making me not like it? i gotta get it a MOTO pg and see if that cheers up the mood

Doesn't sound stupid at all (it might be why I gravitate towards my green bass). I think a mirror guard would be awesome on it (and bright when light hits off of it) MOTO wouldn't be bad... thought about White ice on it?

Love when they speak to me!

First, let me say that Sapphire Black & Moonstone is the most fantastic combo in the line-up... :p

Now that that's settled - I think a lot of us know what you mean. I've had basses that I've played for a period of time with no connection to them, knowing that they were just temporarily filling a spot while I searched for one that was perfect. I really dig all three of my basses and feel very connected when playing each of them.

And speaking of favorites, there's room on the wall for one more... An HSp Sterling which will certainly become my favorite - just waiting patiently to be introduced... ;)
